Counter Shat Boss Replaced

We do two kinds of Sportster transmission case repair. One kind is complete corner section. The other is when the counters shaft boss is to be replaced by solid 356 T6 aluminum alloy round section. COUNTER SHAFT BOSS REPLACED

The old countershaft boss is bored out and a super thick replacement piece is helli-arc welded into place on the pre-heated case. After normalization, both the main shaft boss and countershaft boss are jig bored to exact tolerances. New bearings are then installed at both locations. Please note: this process eliminates the use of the speedometer drive gear.
Sportsters Weak Point

If you’re planning to hop up your pre-1973 HD Sportster engine, don’t overlook the lack of support for the transmission countershaft at the bearing boss. A major design flaw, since corrected by the factory, often results in a disastrous failure during racing or hard street use, especially with big inch motors.

                Your compression ratio will be 9 l/2~to~1 by cc’ing the combustion chamber to 62 cc’s.
Do not use any Hi lift cam without checking the valve-to-piston clearance.
